Presentation I: “Convergence of IoT and Cloud Computing Made Intelligent Home a Reality”
Dr. Minkyong Kim, VP, Digital Appliances Business, Samsung Electronics, Korea
Home appliances have been going through rapid changes recently. They are Wi-Fi enabled and connected to cloud. This connectivity allows limitless resources to appliances whose on-device resources are scarce. In this talk, we will examine the current status of industry with the focus on how the connectivity to cloud enabled application of new technologies, including voice and data-driven AI services, to appliances. Along the way, we will examine the key factors determining the applicability of research ideas to real products in scale.
- Minkyong Kim leads a R&D Team in Digital Appliances Business of Samsung Electronics. Her areas include Cloud Computing, IoT and Artificial Intelligence with special focus on Voice and Vision. Based on these research areas, she leads design and development of smart appliances and services. Prior to joining Samsung, Dr. Kim worked as a research scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, NY. Numerous research projects that Dr. Kim led became IBM products, including Bluemix PaaS Cloud and IBM System S Stream Computing System. Dr. Kim received her B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science & Engineering from Seoul National University, and her Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Michigan. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Dartmouth College prior to joining IBM Research.

Preparing Technology for autonomous Driving are advanced Sensors, Artificial Intelligence, New and flexible Architectures and propulsion alternatives.
- Jae Kyun Chang is head of Division Interior Systems & Technology in Korea which focusing for mainly Innovation, Cross BU operation and Common Engineering / Platform development for the Interior Division of Continental Automotive. To fit the changes and challenges from mega trends of society, economy and also industry, like as AD, EV, Mobility services and ITS, merging with IoT and CE world, strong collaboration between domain and discipline and other industry are essential and parallel to that, define markets & business cases, create fundamental Concepts & Key Architecture.

Presentation III: “Toward 5G Deployment in 2020”
Mr. Takehiro Nakamura, VP and General Manager of 5G Laboratory, NTT DOCOMO, INC., Japan
5G is one of the hot topics in ICT industry and academia. So many deliverables have been published and reported by many 5G research activities so far. We are now under development phase for 5G commercial deployment. Major ICT industry companies including NTT DOCOMO have already announced their aggressive time plan to launch 5G. Standardization work is on-going to specify 5G specifications in 2017-2018. NTT DOCOMO has been so active for 5G research and development to launch 5G commercial service in 2020. In this presentation, DOCOMO’s views on time plan, NW deployment & migration scenarios, spectrum deployment scenarios for 5G deployment in 2020 and beyond will be provided. And updates on DOCOMO’s 5G trial activities will be presented, also.
- Takehiro Nakamura joined NTT Laboratories in 1990. He is now VP and General Manager of 5G Laboratory in NTT DOCOMO, INC. He has been working for research and development of the W-CDMA, HSPA, LTE/LTE-Advanced, 5G and C-V2X/Connected Car technologies.
He has been engaged in the standardization activities at ARIB in Japan since 1997. He is currently the leader of 2020 and Beyond Ad Hoc(20B AH) in ARIB and Acting Chairman of the Strategy & Planning Committee in 5G Mobile Communication Promotion Forum(5GMF) in Japan.
He has been contributing to standardization activities in 3GPP since1999. He contributed to 3GPP TSG-RAN as a vice chairman from March 2005 to March 2009 and as a chairman from April 2009 to March 2013.
He is also very active in standardization of C-V2X/Connected Car in ARIB and ITS Info-communications Forum in Japan. He is now a leader of Cellular System Application Task Group of ITS Info-communications Forum.
Presentation IV: “Securing the Next Generation: 5G IoT Security”
Dr. Anand R. Prasad, Chief Advanced Technologist, NEC Corporation, Japan
Standardization activity towards 5G is going on at a pace that will lead to the technology becoming a reality in near future. 3GPP, the mobile communications standardization body, is developing 5G security specifications.
In this presentation we will discuss 5G security aspects. The presentation will cover 5G security standardization efforts of 3GPP. As the scope of 5G is wider than 3GPP, in this presentation we will also touch topics related to 5G beyond standardization.
- Dr. Anand R. Prasad, Fellow IET & IETE, is Chief Advanced Technologist, NEC Corporation, where he leads the mobile communications security activity. Anand is the chairman of 3GPP SA3 and GISFI Security & Privacy group. He has 20+ years of experience in all aspects of mobile networking industry around the globe.
Anand has published 6 books, 50+ peer reviewed papers, is editor-in-chief of the “Journal of ICT Standardization” published by River Publishers and, most of all, a passionate speaker on information security. He is recipient of the 2014 ITU-AJ “Encouragement Award: ICT Accomplishment Field” and the 2012 (ISC)² “Asia Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements” Award as a Senior Information Security Professional.
